Statement required under Article 444 of the Civil Code of Quebec

In family Court cases, you may need to provide the Court with a form called Statement Required Under Article 444 Civil Code of Procedures, more commonly called Form 444. This form is needed when the Court orders a party to pay another either spousal support or child support triggering therefore the administration of such support payment and collection by Revenu Quebec.

Under the law, Revenu Quebec is mandated by law to act as the administrator of support payments and with that authority, they have the ability to exercise all powers granted to them by law to perform their duties. They have the power to seize bank accounts, garnish salaries or seize any monies payable by the government to the defaulting party owing support payments.

Form 444 ultimately provides Revenu Quebec with the needed information relating to the parties, particularly the debtor of support payments.
